I'm sure adobe factored in a backlash but not to this level. If you want to direct people to what you believe is a better offering you don't force it on them. One risks alienation. I've seen companies who had a truly great product lose large portions of market share by taking the my way or the hwy approach. Aol comes to mind Microsoft and to some extent Apple. People by nature locked into a system will rebel and its no more evident than in the creative sector. What adobe risks here is becoming the little dictator. And no matter how good your software is people wont touch it in fear of a social aleination. A new start up might have a chanse just in the hopes its a giant killer. People and underdogs. By the way ADBE is down 2 bucks a share since Monday.
