The Adobe rip-off

Having read a number of posts about the crazy idea of pushing Creative Cloud CC and stopping with CS physical and perpetual licences, I made an overview of Adobe's pricing structure around the world and it is fascinating to see where the emphasis is in their marketing effort. It does not make me happy, but here it is:

Several noteworthy observations:

  • The American continent and Australia / NZ are treated about equally.
  • Being a student or teacher in Australia / NZ is awesome, you get a 23% price reduction over US or Canadian students.
  • Existing customers and new customers pay on average 62% more than customers in America, Australia and South East Asia.
  • In Adobe's perception, the best editors in the future, based on the Student editions, are found in Australia and NZ, followed by Brazil, but you have to stay away from European students.
  • South Africa and SE Asia do not have interesting students or teachers.

If you look at the price differences, Adobe is clearly marketing Australian / NZ student and teachers as their prime focal point and appear to use European clients, both new and existing as their cash cow.

Shame on you Adobe for ripping us off...

The same software, the same delivery method, the same validation methods all from the same server park and you feel you can rip us off ???

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience, well that comes from bad judgement.

A taxpayer does not have to take a civil service exam in order to work for the Government. A Creative Cloud member does not have to take an Adobe exam in order to work for Adobe.
